Voting by mail is a simple and secure way to make your voice heard in the New Jersey Primary Election 2026. Here’s how it works and what you need to know:

Requesting a Vote-by-Mail Ballot

  • You can apply for a Vote-by-Mail ballot by submitting an application to your county clerk.

  • If you want your ballot mailed to you, your county clerk must receive your application by May 26, 2026 (7 days before the election).

  • You can also apply in person at your county clerk’s office until 3:00 PM on June 1, 2026 (the day before the Primary).

Returning Your Ballot

Once you receive your ballot, you can return it in one of three ways:

  • By Mail: Must be postmarked on or before June 2, 2026 and received by your county board of elections no later than June 8, 2026.

  • Secure Drop Box: Place your ballot in one of your county’s secure ballot drop boxes by June 2, 2026.

  • In Person: Deliver your ballot directly to your county board of elections office by June 2, 2026.

Other Important Dates

  • May 12, 2026: Deadline to register to vote in the Primary.

  • May 26 – June , 2026: Early voting period.
