Why I Admire Pankhoori Gupta

I admire people who bring both professional experience and real community involvement to public service. Pankhoori Gupta does exactly that.

Pankhoori is a seasoned financial professional, an accomplished artist, a wife, and a mother of two children in our school district. She has been actively involved in our schools through the Parent Teacher Organizations at Mt. Prospect and William Annin Middle School, so her interest in education is not theoretical. She has been there, working with parents, teachers, and families.

Pankhoori understands that educating a child means more than chasing test scores. She believes in strong academics, but she also sees the importance of athletics, the arts, confidence, wellness, kindness, and helping every child become the best version of themselves.

I also respect her emphasis on balance. At a time when parents are increasingly concerned about the effects of social media and technology on young people, Pankhoori wants our schools to help children develop confidence, resilience, and healthy habits alongside academic achievement.

Her professional background is another strength. As someone who has spent her career in finance, she understands the importance of asking questions, measuring results, studying best practices, and making decisions based on evidence rather than assumptions. Those are exactly the kinds of skills we should want on a Board of Education responsible for both our children and a significant public budget.

Pankhoori also brings something especially important to Bernards Township: a willingness to listen.

She describes herself as a problem-solver who seeks ideas and input from the community before advancing solutions. She wants to draw upon the talents, experiences, and perspectives of residents throughout Bernards Township. That approach reflects something I believe strongly: good government begins with listening to people, not telling them what they need.

Pankhoori has deep roots in our community, including her involvement in the Basking Ridge South Asian community and the local arts community. She understands how much talent exists right here in Bernards Township and wants to bring more of it into the conversation about our schools.

Most of all, I admire that her focus remains where it belongs: on the children.

She wants our schools to provide an excellent education while helping students grow into confident, capable, well-rounded young people. And that is a goal every parent and taxpayer in Bernards Township should be able to appreciate.

This is why I admire Pankhoori Gupta!
