Did you know . . . some school buses cost $350,000!?

The NJDEP's Electric School Bus Grant Program provides up to $350,000 PER SCHOOL BUS as part of its efforts to have school districts transition away from fossil fuels.

NO WONDER THE STATE IS IN A FINANCIAL TAILSPIN!

How ridiculous, especially given that NJ is in debt to the tune of $209.5 billion. This is a huge misallocation of scarce funds, so typical, however, of the way Democrats spend our tax dollars.

I was disappointed to learn that the Bernards Township School District is moving ahead with a $4,000 grant for a charging station and is exploring a separate $300,000 grant to electrify ONE SCHOOL BUS. Does the district even own a school bus? Who reaps the benefits?

This is not “free” money. It is money taxpayers paid in taxes. In addition, government grant money is rarely free from significant hidden costs or obligations.

This is at a time when school budgets and staff are being cut. This is at a time when parents are being asked to contribute money toward activities and expenses that were traditionally included in school budgets.

Outrageous. But this is the way Democrats run things.

The only thing that I can think of that is more outrageous is New Jersey’s failed fiasco involving offshore wind turbine projects. That’s been another Democratic disaster. The Democrats decommissioned fossil fuel and nuclear plants in anticipation of wind power, which turned out to be nothing but hot air. The result: higher utility bills.

With wind power, Democrats wanted to effectively industrialize the NJ shore without regard to the effects on beaches, the fishing industry, tourism, wildlife, and quality of life. Project cancellations have cost NJ over $125 million.

Given the way Democrats run the state, we can’t afford to have Democrats running Bernards. They will bankrupt us all, as they have bankrupted the State.
